GITEX Africa Kicks Off in Marrakech

  GITEX Africa, the largest technology and start-up show in Africa, kicked off in Marrakech on May 31, 2023. The event, which runs until June 2, is expected to attract over 10,000 visitors from across the continent and beyond. Fuel Price Soars Across Nigeria After Tinubu Announces Removal of Subsidy

  In the wake of President Tinubu's speech on the removal of fuel subsidy, the price of petrol has skyrocketed across Nigeria. In Lagos, the price of petrol has increased from N185 per litre to as high as N600 per litre. In Rivers state, the price of petrol has increased from N200 per litre to N400 per litre. Chelsea appoint Mauricio Pochettino as new manager in bid to rebuild

HIGH CHIEF RAYMOND DOKPESI, FOUNDER OF DAAR COMMUNICATIONS, DIES AT 71

  Raymond Dokpesi, the founder and chairman of DAAR Communications, died on Monday, May 29, 2023, at the age of 71. Dokpesi was a pioneer in the Nigerian media industry, and his company DAAR Communications was one of the first private television stations in Nigeria.  Dokpesi was born in 1952 in Ibadan, Nigeria. He did his undergraduate studies in the University of Benin, and he worked as a lawyer before entering the media industry. In 1993, he founded DAAR Communications, and the company launched its first television station, African Independent Television (AIT), in 1995.
