Rwanda and Bayern Munich Partner to Boost Tourism and Football

Rwanda has recently announced a five-year partnership with the German football club, Bayern Munich, aimed at promoting tourism in Rwanda and establishing a football academy.

Under this partnership, the "Visit Rwanda" logo will be displayed on the illuminated panels around the pitch at Bayern Munich's Allianz Arena, which has a seating capacity of 75,000. The deal signifies Rwanda's growing presence in European football, following previous sponsorships with London club Arsenal and partnership with Paris Saint-Germain in France.

Furthermore, Bayern Munich has committed to establishing a football academy in Rwanda, furthering the development of the sport in the country. The exact financial details of the partnership have not been disclosed.

Rwanda's Minister of Sport, Aurore Mimosa Munyangaju, expressed excitement about the partnership and the prospects it brings for the development of football in Rwanda. She emphasized the importance of this collaboration in advancing the skills and knowledge of local coaches and players through the presence of FC Bayern's expert coaches.

Bayern Munich's CEO, Jan-Christian Dreesen, highlighted the significance of Africa as a continent of opportunities and viewed this partnership as a crucial step in the club's internationalization efforts.

Over the past few years, the Rwandan government has been actively investing in sports as part of a broader strategy to attract tourists, investors, and raise the international profile of the country. This partnership with Bayern Munich aligns with Rwanda's efforts to leverage the global appeal of football for economic and developmental gains, building on previous successful partnerships with leading football clubs.
