Toyota has updated its Yaris supermini for 2024, with a new hybrid powertrain, a more digital interior and enhanced safety tech.
The new Hybrid 130 engine is a more powerful version of the current Yaris hybrid, with a 12 per cent increase in power and torque. This brings the total system output to 96kW and 185Nm, which Toyota says is enough for a 0-62mph time of 9.7 seconds and a top speed of 112mph.
The new engine is also more efficient, with Toyota claiming fuel economy of up to 67.3mpg and CO2 emissions of 87g/km.
The interior of the Yaris has also been updated, with a new 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The new systems are more user-friendly and offer a wider range of features, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Toyota has also added a number of new safety features to the Yaris, including a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with steering assist, and adaptive cruise control.
The updated Yaris will go on sale in Europe in early 2024.
In addition to the new hybrid powertrain and interior tech, the 2024 Toyota Yaris also gets a number of other updates, including:
- A new GR Sport trim level, which adds sportier styling and suspension
- New exterior colors, including a two-tone Neptune Blue finish
- New safety features, such as a blind spot monitor and rear cross traffic alert
The 2024 Toyota Yaris is a significant update for a popular car. The new hybrid powertrain is more powerful and efficient, the interior is more modern and user-friendly, and the safety features are more comprehensive. The Yaris remains one of the best choices in the supermini class.
